Chapter one
Hello, My name is Amy, I am Twenty nine years young, I have many interests and things I like but the main thing I love is music, I am a starting musician, I am trying to make it, I went to Julliard but that doesn’t automatically mean you are a pro but I am trying to become more known and try to get some work, I compose classical music, Write my own songs, play piano, keyboard, drums, guitar, and bass. I am currently living in Los Angeles. I love the city, considering I grew up in New York. I am actually looking for my best friend, he became famous about a year ago while I was still in college his name is Jason. I am walking around the city sightseeing and trying to find a star bucks, I really need my coffee. I fund a star bucks, I go in and order my coffee.
“Amy,” I heard someone say, I turned in the direction I heard the person call my name from, It was a guy who looked kind of like my Jason did but I don’t know.
“Jason?” I questioned
“Oh my god it is you.” He said hugging me. I hugged him back.
“How have you been?” I asked Jason.
“I’ve been good, do you have time to sit and talk for a while?”He asked.
“Yeah, hold on let me get my coffee.” I said going up and getting my venti mocha frapacino. I walked over and sat next to him. “It’s been far too long since we’ve talked, why did you stop calling?”
“I had to change my number, and I know, I missed talking to you. We’ve been friends forever, and I didn’t want to lose touch with you but the fans found out my phone number and I had to change the number. I’m sorry!”
“It’s okay, I understand, I’m just glad I ran into you, I actually was trying to find you.” I said laughing.
“Yeah, I’m glad you found me, I was actually just going to fly back home and see if you were still at Julliard.” He said smiling at me.
I took a sip of my coffee then started talking again. “Yeah, I graduated early, well I kind of started early remember,”
“Yeah, I remember, we went to preschool together and then finished high school together remember.”
“Of course, how could I not remember, we were together all the time, how’s mike?” I said taking another drink of my coffee.
“Why don’t we go and you can see him and the other two guys in the band, Alex and Andy?” he said standing up.
“Yeah, that sounds good but I am supposed to go check in with my mom, I was supposed to call her when I got here but I did and she was eating so I have to call her real quick do you mind?”
“No, of course not. I’ll just wait outside.” He said grabbing his coffee heading outside.
I dialed my mom’s number and sat then she answered. “Hey, Amy, you
okay?”
“Yeah mom, I just ran into Jason, He looks so different but he seems like he hasn’t changed much.”
“Oh that’s good, well I have to go see your great-grandma, she’s in the hospital, and I will call when I know anything more than that.” She said hanging up.
I started getting tears in my eyes, my great-grandma had been there threw everything. I walked outside with my coffee. “Hey,” I said distant and kind of trying not to cry.
“What’s wrong?” Jason asked.
“Nothing just had a rough phone call.” I said walking in front of Jason.
“Hey, something’s wrong I can tell,” he said grabbing my arm. “Tell me please, were best friends, you used to tell me everything even if it was the worst news, Please Amy.”
“My great-grandma is in the hospital and they don’t know if she’s going to live or if she’s going to die and I just came out here and I just I don’t want to lose my great-grandma, she’s been there for me all the time, remember when we were 5 and we went to their house and we fell in the pool in the middle of winter, and she jumped in and saved us and all three of us stayed home with the flu.” I said crying.
“I’m so sorry, Amy.” He said hugging me. “Come on lets go meet the guys, maybe they’ll know what to say.” He said putting his hand on my back showing me which way to go.
“I know this is a heard subject for you but I just don’t want to go anywhere. I just really want to go back to my hotel.” I said turning around to the direction my hotel is in.
“No, please, just I don’t know what to say, I’m not good with deaths, please, and you know mike is better with these things, please at least exchange numbers with me.” Jason said begging me to go with him.
“Do you have mike’s number?” I questioned.
“Yeah, why?”
“Let me call him.”
“Uhh, he won’t like that.”
“I’m one of his best friends. That’s the only way I will go see him.” I said drying my tears throwing away my coffee.
“Fine, “he said dialing mike’s number into my phone.
“Michael?” I asked into the phone.
“Uh, yeah this is Michael, Who is this?”
“This is Amy, Your old best friend.”
“Oh my gosh, Amy where’d you get my number?”
“Jason, we ran into each other, He wants me to come meet you and your new band mates but I just I don’t want to because my great-grandma could be dying and Jason doesn’t know what to say and I just wanted another friends sympathy because Jason’s not that good with emotion and sympathy.”
“Oh I’m so sorry, Amy, Why don’t you come hang out, I’d love to see you and we can talk about everything I’ve missed over the years.” He said sounding sympathetic.
“Okay, Jason and I are on our way.”
“Alright I’ll capture your number then I’ll make sure I put my number into your phone.” He said.
“Okay, see you in a little bit. Bye.” I said hanging up.
Jason and I walked to the guy’s apartment. He opened the door and we walked in and mike engulfed me in a hug. “I missed you so much, haven’t see you in forever, and Jason was just talking about going to see you at Julliard.”
“Yeah, I graduated and moved out here to become famous.” I said as mike and Jason led me over to the sofa. “You hungry?”
“No, not really. I’m kind of sad.”
“Oh yeah sorry,” mike said coming over and sitting next to me, he put his arm around my shoulder. “It’s going to be okay.” He said as Jason came and sat on my other side and did the same thing. I rested my head on mikes shoulder then on Jason’s. I started crying again and turned and hugged Jason.
“Its okay, it’s okay!” Jason said hugging me tighter.
“I should really go; I really need to get some sleep even though I haven’t been awake very long. I just need some air.” I said letting go of Jason then hugging mike and walking towards the door we came in through.
“Hey, Amy, please don’t go, Just stay a little longer, I don’t want you to leave and be alone and hurt yourself like you did when we were 16 years old.” Jason said.
“Jason, I told you to never bring that up, I’m better I haven’t done anything like that since sophomore year in high school. I can’t believe you.” I said walking out the door. I ran into someone. “God my day just can’t get any worse can it.” I said as Jason came running out.
“You are so stupid just let me be a friend.”
“I don’t want you to be a friend, I just want to be alone, geez, I thought you of all people you Jason would understand. Leave me alone.” I said getting up and storming off trying to find my way to my hotel.
Ring
My stupid phone, I looked at the caller ID, It was my mom. I answered immediately. “Hey mom, how’s Great-grandma?”
“Dead, I just called to let you know she’s gone, funerals next week, I have to go bye.” My mom said and I couldn’t find my way, wait I have mikes number. I dialed his number and was crying by this time.
“Mike?” I asked crying.
“Uh no, this is mikes phone but he’s not here, he’s in the shower can I help you?”
“Is Jason there?” I asked.
“Yeah hold on. Let me get him.”
“Hello this is Jason.”
“Jason,” I said crying, “I don’t know where I am and I just found out my Great-grandma died and I don’t have the money to fly back for the funeral so I’m just, Please come find me.” I said crying.
“I thought you hated me.” He said
“You’re my best friend why would I hate you. Please Jason; if you won’t send Mike or one of your other band mates I really don’t care I just wanted to be with someone who actually knows me. “I said crying.
“Well, fine I’ll come get you just sit down were you are and I’ll be there in a little bit.”
“Thanks Jason.” I hung up on him.
It had been a little while since I had talked to Jason and I was freezing and the fog started to lower and I could see shapes off in the distance and I got scared really scared. I dialed mikes number but no one answered I dialed my best friend Diana’s number to see if she would answer but she didn’t I am freaking out sitting on a bench in the middle of LA or some La suburb and there are weird mysterious figures walking toward me.
